If you are looking to increase your exposure as a blogger, while earning money through revenue sharing, freelance blogging may be for you. Triond.com and Helium.com are great places to start, particularly for those new to blogging.

If you are just starting to blog, you will inevitably ask yourself these three questions:

    How do I build traffic?
    Is my writing any good?
    Can I make any money?

With respect to building traffic, the answer is both simple and complex at the same time. If you fill your blog with great content, your traffic will increase. The more complicated response to that question repeats the Mantra of “produce great content”, but also requires you to become a student of at least the basic concepts of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Once you build that traffic, the next question of whether money can be made is fairly easy to resolve.

Which leaves us with the last question – Is my writing any good?

This is where the freelance Blog sites Triond.com and Helium.com can provide a great service in terms of evaluating your writing and honing your already existing skills.

Both sites are similar as they allow you to submit articles on almost any topic. If approved, you receive the added benefit of revenue sharing. I assume this revenue is derived from readers clicking ads from google adsense. I have yet to figure out the formula for sharing revenue on Helium.com, but it appears as though Triond.com shares earned money 50/50.

How much will I make?

Understand, you can expect earnings to be in cents rather than dollars, so it is not advisable to quit your day job in anticipation of a livable income stream. I assume prolific authors may record significant earnings, but I would also assume that their article submissions number in the hundreds. Helium also has a Marketplace, where you can submit articles on specific topics requested by online publishers.

As a result, the main benefit from submitting content to these sites would not stem from income potential, particularly for the average new blogger.

The Feedback is the key!

The real benefit is derived from the feedback you will receive from your posts from either comments or rankings. Helium is superior as far as this goes, as an important aspect of the site is having your articles rated. It is satisfying to see your article ranked number one. Even if your article is not ranked high, you have an opportunity to look at the posts you are being compared to and see what may be a preferable style or tone. Triond gets high points for its page that dissects a well-written post, and I have adopted many things that I learned there.

One last thing to consider is the exclusivity of your article. It appears as though Triond requires that the content you provide be posted only on a site controlled by them or one of their affiliates. Helium allows you to post material that may already be posted on your personal blog, as long as it is original content.

Both sites have differing strengths and weaknesses, but are invaluable resources for becoming a better blogger. So start posting!
