Trying to get the content of your blog out to the eagerly anticipating masses is and will be a primary topic of interest to bloggers of all experience levels. With the variety of ways to publicize a blog, participating in Blog Carnivals can be the most satisfying!
If you think about it, the potential readership of your blog can be dividing into two categories: other bloggers and everyone else. As a result, many of the well known methods for bringing traffic to your blog will either involve networking with other bloggers or, for more general readership, strategically using social networking or carefully crafted keywords.
Despite the oversimplification of the preceding paragraph, I would suggest that participating in Blog Carnivals combines the best of both worlds. Firstly, having other blogs link to you by including your submission in their carnival, it contributes to the calculation of your google page rank. Also, your blog’s authority on Technorati will increase as well. Obviously, any increase in Page Rank will result in your blog’s position in search engine results.
Secondly, you will increase your contacts with bloggers of similar interests, depending on the type of carnival you participate in. Even if the contact is not direct, you will learn so much from those who submit to blog carnivals. This knowledge will arise from observing style and choice of content, as well as the information contained in the post.
Don’t overlook the possibility of hosting a carnival yourself. Providing a forum on any topic is always appreciated, regardless of the number of carnivals already on the topic.
If you are included in a carnival, don’t forget to link back to the host, leave a comment thanking for the inclusion, and STUMBLE! When you stumble, make sure you leave a review. Remember, the success of that carnival translates into your success as well. So be sure to include it in all appropriate book marking sites. I mention StumbleUpon specifically only because it is the one I am the most familiar with.
Makin’ It Rain!
So, with that being said, let me try to make it rain a little bit for those who have included me in their carnivals or mentioned mine on their blog. If you should be on this list and I have not included you, email me and I’ll make it right.
